Check your registration notice first.

Fuel type, model year, ownership changes, collector status and registration circumstances affect requirements. A nearby station or a search ZIP code does not prove a testing obligation.

Use the current official tables.

The DMV publishes separate, year-specific gasoline and hybrid requirements and diesel requirements. Consult those tables for your vehicle and the applicable year. We do not turn a simplified age rule into an automatic eligibility verdict.
